Baseball Wins Nightcap to Take Doubleheader Split With Hamilton

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin and Hamilton baseball teams split a doubleheader on Friday evening at Pickard Field with the Continentals claiming game one, 16-4, before Bowdoin bounced back to claim the nightcap, 5-0. The Polar Bears stand at 12-15 this spring after the split.

Game One Highlights

  • Bowdoin had a 4-2 lead after five innings but Hamilton scored 14 runs in the final two innings to claim a comeback win.
  • Will Bordes had a long solo home run for Bowdoin in the loss while Jackson Melendy got a no-decision, covering 5.1 innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out five.
  • Lucas Herman had three hits for Hamilton while Kenny Harten got the win, tossing 6.1 innings and permitting four earned runs.

Game Two Highlights

  • Bowdoin rebounded in game two thanks to a stellar start from Jeremiah Chessie, who went five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out three to get the win.
  • Reuben Siegel single got the scoring started for Bowdoin in the second and then the Polar Bears scored four times in the third, highlighted by Bordes’ second homer of the day and an RBI double by Will Cooke.
  • Tommy O’DonnellWill Logue, and Bordes all had two hits in the win.
