BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men’s lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day with a dominant 25-4 win over UMass-Boston on Saturday night at Whittier Field. The Polar Bears, ranked second in the latest USILA Division III poll, move to 12-0 on the season while the Beacons fall to 6-6.
Game Highlights
- The game was never in doubt, as the Polar Bears scored five times in the first 5:23, scored nine goals in both the first and second quarters, and held an 18-0 lead at intermission.
- The Beacons finally got on the board after being held scoreless for the first 30:36, as Bowdoin coasted in the second half, scoring a season-high in goals and allowing their fewest goals in the same game.
By The Numbers
- Sam Raye-Steiner scored five goals to lead all Bowdoin players while Casey Ryan (three goals, four assists) and Chris Berry (two goals, five assists) both had seven-point outings.
- Fifteen different Polar Bears scored, including the first goals of the season for Michael Norton, AJ McBorrough, Ryan Landa, and Patrick Albers.
- Bowdoin won 24 of 33 faceoffs in the victory, including 10 wins for Cam Wietfeldt, eight for Alex Choi, and six for Phoenix Kelly-Zuckerman.
- Alex Byrne had two caused turnovers, four ground balls, and two goals while Colin Campbell also had two caused turnovers. Nico Schermer also had four ground balls for Bowdoin.
- Alec Delgado made six saves and allowed no goals in the first half for the Polar Bears while Eddie McElroy (three goals, three saves), and Peter Flannery (one goal, two saves) split time in the second half.
