BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College sophomore Hudson Greene has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week as the Polar Bears rose to number one in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association rankings for the first time in school history on Monday afternoon.

Greene totaled six goals and four assists last week for the unbeaten Polar Bears, continuing a torrid stretch that has seen him post 10 goals and six assists over Bowdoin’s last three games. The sophomore attackman tied for a team-high four goals in the Polar Bears’ midweek win at Tufts University, snapping the Jumbos’ 42-game winning streak. He followed that performance with two goals and four assists in Bowdoin’s NESCAC Quarterfinal victory over Williams College.

Following last week’s victories, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its Division III weekly poll with Bowdoin College ranked first for the first time in program history. The only remaining undefeated team in Division III, the Polar Bears also improved to 15-0 for the first time in school history.

Bowdoin College will host the remaining rounds of the NESCAC Tournament on May 2-3 at Whittier Field. The Polar Bears will play Hamilton in the conference semifinals at noon on Saturday.
