BRUNSWICK, Maine – Emily Ferguson scored twice as the Bowdoin College field hockey team dominated play and used a three-goal third quarter to pull away for a 4-0 win over the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday evening at Ryan Field.
The Polar Bears improve to 5-2 overall with the non-conference victory, while the Huskies fall to 6-4.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin controlled play throughout the opening half before breaking the game open in the third quarter.
- Emily Ferguson broke through early in the second half with a rocket from the left side of the circle.
- The Polar Bears then added two more goals just 44 seconds apart, with Hannah Balmelli and Ferguson finding the back of the net to give Bowdoin a commanding three-goal lead just 6:44 into the second half.
- Charlotte Crawford also scored for the Polar Bears, while Bowdoin’s defense kept Southern Maine off the scoreboard to complete the shutout.
