Men’s Tennis Falls to Chicago in NCAA Quarterfinals

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Bowdoin College men’s tennis team saw its season come to a close in a 4-2 loss to Chicago in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament Tuesday afternoon at the Champions Club.

The Polar Bears end their campaign with a 19-5 overall record.

Match Highlights

  • The Polar Bears started off on the right foot, winning the first two completed doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Kiran Garapati/Simon Catanzaro claimed a 6-2 win at number two and Mark Kneiss/Jackson Codd closed out a 6-3 win at number one.
  • Codd claimed a 6-1, 6-2 win at number three singles to quickly push the Bowdoin lead to 2-0, but Chicago claimed straight-set wins at number four and six to even the score.
  • With the match in the balance, Chicago won a pair of first set tiebreakers on courts one and two, setting themselves up for second set wins at both positions to finish off the 4-2 comeback victory.
  • Bowdoin ends its season with 19 victories, the fifth-most in a single season in school history, their third NCAA quarterfinal appearance in the last four seasons, and 2026 NESCAC runners-up.
