CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Bowdoin senior Mark Kneiss closed out his career by advancing to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Singles Championship last weekend.
Kneiss won three matches in successive days to advance the furthest in his career at individual nationals, besting his quarterfinal appearance from 2025. Kneiss opened with a pair of wins defeating Allen Gong (Johns Hopkins) 6-1, 6-1 before bouncing Gage Gohl (Gustavus Adolphus) 6-1, 6-4 to reach the quarterfinal round. In the quarterfinals he rallied to defeat Alexander Ekstrand (UChicago) 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 to make his first-ever national semifinal appearance. There, he lost to Advik Mareedu (CMS) 6-4, 6-2 to bow out of the tournament. The NESCAC Player of the Year, he finishes his season with a record of 28-10, including fall tournament play.
Sophomore Kiran Garapati made his first appearance in the NCAA championship as well, falling in the first round to Kael Shaw (Denison) 6-3, 6-3.
