KEENE, N.H. – The Bowdoin College Cross Country squads ran to top-three finishes in fields showcasing 27 teams at the Keene Invitational on Saturday morning. The women’s team took runner-up honors with 54 points, 21 behind first-place No. 1 Williams as the men’s squad narrowly claimed third-place with 91 points, one ahead of No. 10 Tufts and behind winners No. 12 Williams (55) and No. 21 MIT (58).
Women’s Meet Highlights
- Gwen Purnell (2nd-place) and Kaylee Hale (5th-place) were the low-sticks for the Polar Bears finishing top-five in a field of 244. Purnell was less than four seconds behind the winner in a time of 22:01.9 as Hale clocked a time of 22:11.2
- Cam Meyers (9th-place), Ellie Saksena (18th-place) and Elise Casso (20th-place) made the Polar Bears top-five among the top 20 places.
- Francine Miller claimed 21st-place with Leta Griffith taking 36th to round out Bowdoin’s top seven.
Men’s Meet Highlights
- Seamus McDonough (24:59.0) and Matthew Servin (25:00.6) provided the Polar Bears one-two-punch taking third and fourth place, respectively in a field of 267 runners.
- Daniel Smith (25:44.8) and Oliver Brandes (25:47.5) broke 26 minutes finishing in 21st and 22nd places as Ryan Boulanger claimed 44th for the Polar Bears top-five scorers.
- Elliott Fontaine (50th-place) and Griffin Brown (57th-place) completed the top-seven in 26:34.8 and 26:39.2, respectively.
