Women’s Tennis Splits Weekend In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Bowdoin women’s tennis team split a pair of matches against UAA schools after dropping a 5-2 decision to Emory and beating Carnegie Mellon 6-1.

The Polar Bears are 6-4. Emory is 9-5 and Carnegie Mellon is 13-4.

Emory Match Highlights

  • Emory eked out the doubles point after taking #1 doubles and Bowdoin capturing a win at #3. Cara Hung and Suzanne Pogorelec lost a close tie-breaker at #2.
  • Bowdoin lost three three-setters in singles play narrowly missing out of flipping the final result.
  • Pogorelec won at #2 singles to earn a point with a 6-4, 6-2 finish.
  • Zoe Sun earned a win at #4 with a 6-4, 7-6 victory.

Carnegie Mellon Highlights

  • Bowdoin won the doubles point with a 6-3 win at #2 from Hung and Pogorelec and a 6-1 win from Caroline Stuhlfaut and Naomi Williams at #3.
  • Hung cruised at the top spot to a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
  • Willow Assante-LaBash also won in two quick sets with a 6-4, 6-3 score at #6.
  • Pogorelec capped a strong weekend on the road with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win at #2.
  • Sun earned her second singles win of the weekend at #4 (7-6, 2-6, 1-0).
  • Bella Hartung rounded out the trip with a #3 win in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-2).
