BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bowdoin softball team saw its season come to an end in a 4-2 loss to Cortland in the NCAA Regional.
The Polar Bears (27-11) season ends in the NCAA tournament for only the second time in program history. The Red Dragons stay alive at 26-16.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin and Cortland traded 1-2-3 at-bats to open the game, including a pair of strikeouts for Kathleen Hester.
- The Red Dragons broke through in the top of the third with an RBI double to left that drove in a runner from third.
- Cortland added two more runs in the fourth as the Polar Bears escaped a bases loaded jam with minimal damage.
- Bowdoin broke through in the sixth with the first two batters reaching base. Rosie Panenka walked to load the bases.
- Margaret Flannery-Goodman chopped a ball to shortstop and drove in the runner from third.
- Reilly Parga added an RBI single to right field, making it 4-2.
- Bowdoin could not find an equalizer in the final inning.
By The Numbers
- Hester pitched 3.2 innings and surrendered five hits with four strikeouts. Sophia Hahn pitched the last out of the fourth inning.
- Ava Biasotti pitched three innings with one hit, one strikeout, and one run allowed.
- Maddie Paschke, Rosie Panenka, Parga, and Sammie Wright all had hits. Panenka hit a leadoff double in the second.
