Monks Stifle Bowdoin Bats In Baseball Season Opener

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin baseball team suffered a doubleheader setback at home against Saint Joseph’s to open the 2026 season.

The Polar Bears are 0-2 as the Monks begin the season 2-0.

Game One Highlights

  • Errors plagued the Polar Bears in the season opener, with three unearned runs in the first three innings. Bowdoin ultimately trailed 4-0 heading into the latter part of the game.
  • Bowdoin rallied with an RBI double by Tommy O’Donnell in the fifth and RBI single off Henry Bibeau’s bat in the sixth.
  • Sam Almy pitched five innings with five hits allowed and six strikeouts. Jeremiah Chessie pitched the final two innings and allowed one hit with a pair of strikeouts.
  • Dylan Brander pitched a complete game with three hits allowed and a matching number of K’s.

Game Two Highlights

  • Bowdoin surrendered eight runs in the first three innings to fall into a quick hole.
  • Will Bordes put Bowdoin on the board with a two-run homer in the fourth.
  • The Monks answered with two more runs in the top half of the fifth on a pair of hits.
  • The Polar Bears put four pitchers on the mound. Liam Childs started the game and allowed six runs on four hits. Alex Saavedra pitched one inning, as did Jake Kavanaugh.
  • Bordes finished out the game with three innings of work and six hits with a pair of earned runs. Bordes fanned six batters.
