BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men’s tennis team rolled a pair of conference opponents on their opening weekend of NESCAC play. The Polar Bears (3-0 overall) knocked off Amherst and Hamilton by identical 6-1 scores to enter break with a perfect record.
Amherst Match Highlights
- The Polar Bears controlled doubles play, taking all three matches to gain an early 1-0 edge. Mark Kneiss/Jackson Codd (6-4), Simon Catanzaro/Kiran Garapati (6-1) and Aden Dorros/Mick Tamas (6-4) all posted wins.
- In singles play, Bowdoin earned a pair of straight-set wins thanks to Catanzaro and Andrew Mendelson.
- Three-set battles were won by Garapati, Codd, and Cameron Zia to seal the victory.
Hamilton Match Highlights
- Bowdoin was pushed in doubles play, getting a win from Dorros/Tamas (6-3) but needing a tiebreaker from Catanzaro/Garapati to take a 7-6 win and the doubles point.
- The Polar Bears made quick work of singles play, as five of the six matches went straight sets thanks to Kneiss, Zia, Catanzaro, Mendelson, and Christian Stubbeman.
- Garapati won a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 battle at number two to round out the Bowdoin victors.

Bowdoin is off to California for spring break, where they will play five matches this coming week, beginning on Wednesday at Chapman University.
