Brunswick, Maine – The Frank J. Wood Bridge has been a beloved symbol of Brunswick and
Topsham since its erection across Brunswick Falls on the Androscoggin River in 1932, and
the decision to take it down sparked a lot of emotion in our community. As a way of
honoring the legacy of the falls, the surrounding area, and those who care about them,
Brunswick Public Art has organized a non-juried art exhibition at Curtis Memorial Library,
featuring work on this theme by over forty artists. Community members, students and
professional artists were invited to create and submit artwork in any media. The result is an
exciting collection of drawings, photographs, paintings and mixed-media works depicting
the bridge, and expressing the emotions stirred by this iconic structure.

We hope visitors will engage with this show as a forum for celebration, discussion,
mourning and healing. Please join us for a public reception on Friday, January 9, from 5:00-
7:00PM. Or stop by during regular library hours between January 4 and January 30.
