Bates Tips Women’s Lacrosse in Overtime Setback

BRUNSWICK, Maine – A big rally by the Bowdoin women’s lacrosse team came up just short in overtime against Bates on Wednesday night, 13-12. The Bobcats earn their first NESCAC win of the season and move to 5-5 (1-5 NESCAC) while the Polar Bears fall to 3-6 (0-6 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

  • The Bobcats came out of the gate fast, scoring the first four goals of the game and owning a 6-1 lead by late in the opening quarter.
  • Goals by Ellie Fabbro and Tate Ryan scored to cut the Bates lead to 6-3 at the end of the first quarter and Bowdoin cut the margin to two goals, 8-6, on a Fabbro goal just before halftime.
  • The Polar Bears cut the lead to a single goal on two occasions in the third before back-to-back goals by Grace Harvey and Annie Bermingham tied the contest at 10-10 heading into the fourth.
  • The teams traded goals in the fourth quarter, with Bowdoin briefly taking the lead, 12-11, on a Harvey goal with 5:39 to go.
  • But Bates’ Lauren Wong tied the game 70 seconds later, and scored the eventual game-winner in overtime to give the Bobcats the win.

  • Grace Harvey scored four goals, won nine draws, and had two caused turnovers for the Polar Bears.
  • Ellie Fabbro had three goals and four draws for Bowdoin while Annie Bermingham added a goal and two assists. Miya Imaeda had three assists.

  • The Polar Bears owned a 27-25 edge in shots, 17-10 advantage in draw controls, but committed 21 turnovers in the loss.
