CLERMONT, Fla. – The Bowdoin College softball team split a doubleheader on its final day of games in Florida, finishing a successful southern trip with a 10-1 mark, its best spring break trip since 2007.
On Tuesday, Bowdoin dropped a 14-11 decision to Worcester State before bouncing back in a 9-5 win over Macalester.
Worcester State Highlights
- Bowdoin fell behind 7-1 after two innings but almost clawed their way back before losing their first game of the season, 14-11.
- The Polar Bears did score 10 runs in the final five innings as Anika Ewert went 3-4 with three runs scored with three stolen bases.
- Baylie Wong and Margaret Flannery-Goodman each had three hits and three RBI while Sammie Wright also had three hits in the game. Reilly Parga had a pair of doubles.
Macalester Highlights
- The Polar Bears rallied from a 3-1 first inning deficit to take their tenth win of the trip, 9-5.
- Bowdoin sored three in the fourth on a two-run single by Wright and added four in the sixth with Flannery-Goodman delivering a two-RBI hit.
- Ewert had four more hits to raise her average to .682 for the season while Wright added three hits.
- Maddie Current (4-0) earned the win with four innings of work, allowing two earned runs with four strikeouts. Kathleen Hester got the save, permitting one earned run and whiffing five over the final 3.0 frames.

Bowdoin will return north to face Wesleyan in a doubleheader that has been moved to noon on Friday at Pickard Softball Field due to expected poor weather on Saturday.
