Pair of Late Goals Sink Women’s Lacrosse Against Hamilton

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Hamilton College women’s lacrosse team scored twice in the final eight minutes to take an 11-9 win over Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon at Ryan Field. The Continentals improve to 1-2 (1-1 NESCAC) while the Polar Bears fall to 1-2 (0-2 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

  • The Continentals never trailed in the game, but couldn’t quite put the Polar Bears away despite having a 6-3 lead at intermission.
  • Hamilton opened up a four goal edge, 8-4, at the 5:21 mark of the third quarter, but a four-goal surge by Bowdoin, sparked by a Mara Muse goal, drew the game even at 8-8 early in the fourth quarter.
  • Hamilton briefly regained the lead before Ellie Fabbro scored for Bowdoin with 9:53 remaining, making it 9-9.
  • The Continentals got a goal from Lily Goldsmith with 7:24 remaining and added an insurance goal from Julia Lee at 6:19 as the Polar Bears went scoreless down the stretch.

  • Grace Schorr had two goals and an assist for Bowdoin as Miya Imaeda and Ellie Fabbro each had a pair of scores.
  • Grace Harvey had three caused turnovers and four draw controls while Kate Mautz also added three caused turnovers for the Bowdoin defense.
  • Alexa Genua had four saves for the Polar Bears, who out-shot Hamilton 23-19 in the game.
