TOPSHAM, ME – Corey E. Garver American Legion Post 202 hosted the 12th annual Winter Classic Softball Tournament at its facility in Topsham on February 14, 2026. Started 12 years ago, support for the tournament has grown in support from local businesses donating money, merchandise, or gift cards to help raise money.
This year was no different: 9 Teams, fans, and many volunteers gathered in the cold for one purpose: To raise money to help end Veteran Homelessness in the State of Maine and support up to 156 homes Veterans currently in Maine (MBVS).
With nearly 2 feet of ungroomed field, 9 teams played in a double elimination tournament from 8:00 am until sunset. Thanks also go to over 60 local businesses who donated money or merchandise for the raffle. Your generosity helped us raise over $20,000 this year. Through Maine Veterans in need, 100% of the money raised goes to help our Veterans who may be struggling with mental illness, addiction and homelessness. These brave men and women were willing to sacrifice everything to help protect our freedom.
American Legion Post 202 would like to thank the 9 teams who played this year and each year supporting us in our cause to help our brothers and sisters: American Legion Post 86 Grey Warriors, American Legion Post 158 Lisbon, Androscoggin Bank, Bros and Hoes, Fallen Saints Motorcycle Club, Misfits, Swings to Serve (Tournament Winners), Team Grateful (Mighty 202 Award for highest donations), and TOGUS Regional Office.
