Wilkerson dominant in Portland's 2-1 win at Altoona

Altoona, Pa. - Aaron Wilkerson delivered seven strong innings and Tim Roberson clobbered the game-winning two-run homer, as the Portland Sea Dogs (45-77) took care of the Altoona Curve (64-58), 2-1 on Tuesday night in the series opener at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Wilkerson tied a team-high with 7 IP (also a season high), allowing his lone run in the first inning on a run-scoring ground out by Jose Osuna. The 26-year old righty scattered four hits without a walk and fanned four.  Wilkerson was perfect in four of seven frames.

Altoona starter Chad Kuhl tossed six scoreless on three hits but was lifted for Tom Harlan in the seventh. With one out, Sam Travis doubled and Roberson followed with a two-run homer into the left-field seats.  Harlan (5-3) took the loss, giving up both runs in two innings pitched.

Kyle Kaminska pitched two hitless innings with a walk and three strikeouts to earn the save in his 2015 debut with Portland.  Kaminska last pitched with Portland in 2013.

Carlos Asuaje, Manuel Margot and Luis Martinez each had two hits for Portland.

The Sea Dogs and Altoona Curve (Pirates affiliate) play game two of their series on Wednesday night beginning at 7:00. RHP Justin Haley (5-13, 5.08) makes his team-leading 24th start for Portland. RHP Matt Benedict (5-5, 5.20) gets the ball for Altoona. Pre-Game coverage begins on the WPEI U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio network at 6:40 PM.
