King Presses CIA, Administration to Expedite Release of Detention and Interrogation Program Report

SKOWHEGAN, ME – Following reports that President Obama’s Administration has asked for additional time for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to review the Senate Intelligence Committee’s study of the Agency’s Detention and Interrogation Program, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine), a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, released the following statement:

“These reports are deeply troubling. The Administration and the CIA have had the substance of this study for well over a year. I recognize that it often takes time to declassify information of this nature, but this is excessive. Eisenhower retook Europe faster.”

On April 3, 2014, the Senate Intelligence Committee voted to declassify the executive summary of its study of the CIA's now-defunct detention and interrogation program.
