Dempsey Center offers art workshop

LEWISTON – The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing is offering a free art workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. The Restorative Power of Art will take place Wednesday, August 14 from Noon – 1:30 p.m. at the Dempsey Center, 29 Lowell Street, Lewiston.

Visual art and other modes of creativity, such as movement, music, and poetry will be explored as tools to promote hope, communication, and emotional healing. Tapping into one's imagination and inherent creativity can be restorative for any person, not just the so-called "artist."

Breast cancer survivor, visual artist and retired clinical psychologist Sally Loughridge will share her book, Rad Art: A Journey through Radiation Treatment.

Pre-registration is required and available by phone at (207) 795-8250; toll-free 1-877-336-7287 or online at www.dempseycenter.org.
