Estes Lobster House

Are you in the mood for a wonderful, fresh seafood dinner with an amazing view of the Maine coast?  If so, take a drive down Route 123 in South Harpswell to Estes Lobster House.  I recently ate this seafood stuffed haddock meal out on the deck.  The day was gorgeous and the ambiance of the coast of Maine just a few feet away from our table was unbeatable.  I usually get the fried clams there, one of my favorite Summer meals at Estes, which never disappoints.  However, this time I decided to try something a little different and was very glad I did.  I paired it with a Gritty’s IPA from the tap which on that warm sunny day was refreshing and a perfect choice.  See Estes Ad in the August Cryer on page 26 and for more information visit Estes Lobster House at:  www.esteslobsterhouse...

Wild Duck Pub

Clam Bake

Growing up in Southern Massachusetts with a Portuguese heritage, one of my favorite summer meals is the New England Portuguese Clam Boil.  It brings back memories of wonderful family gatherings and many 4th of July meals.  When I moved to Maine and mentioned this meal to my new friends, no one knew what I was talking about.  Just today, I was telling my daughter’s friend that I was putting this recipe in The Cryer, and she said what most of my friends have said,  “You mean a Clam Bake, right?”  Confirmation, that I needed share this easy and very flavorful recipe with the readers of The Cryer.  I hope over the coming summer months you have a chance to try this recipe, and if you do, please write to me and let me know what you think.   Enjoy!
